As former U.S. President Donald Trump marks 100 days into his latest term, his approval rating remains the lowest among modern American presidents. Yet, his core base continues to show unwavering loyalty.

The New York Times reported on the 1st (local time) that Trump’s approval has dropped from 48% during the last presidential election to 42% recently. Despite the decline, over 40% of respondents still support him, reflecting his continued dominance in the political arena contrary to expectations in Washington.

While many in the political establishment initially dismissed Trump’s rise as a temporary phenomenon, there is now a growing consensus that his influence is undeniable. Even veteran politicians acknowledge that Trump’s message resonates with a significant portion of the American public.

Supporters credit Trump with surpassing former President Joe Biden’s four-year accomplishments in just 100 days. They also highlight the loyalty of his aides and cabinet members as a major strength of his current administration.

However, some backers have voiced concerns about Trump’s more radical policies, such as the proposed dismantling of the Department of Education. One supporter remarked, “We need to reform the education system, not tear it down completely.”

Trump’s business background is frequently cited as a key reason for his political success. “He understands America as a capitalist nation better than Biden,” said one supporter. “Biden lacks any experience in the private sector.”

Conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, 31, reflected, “To people in the Midwest, Trump symbolized American capitalism. Back in high school, many of my friends only knew one billionaire Donald Trump.”

Other supporters see his “America First” stance as proof that he is not merely a businessman, but a patriot fighting for the country. They say his wealth does not distance him from ordinary people, and they find meaning in images of him hugging the U.S. flag or holding a Bible.

Trump’s rejection of political norms and preference for blunt rhetoric continue to resonate with his base. Supporters praise his willingness to speak uncomfortable truths and even excuse his occasional falsehoods as strategic.

They also appear largely indifferent to his crude language and frequent gaffes, asserting that “there is no one else who can replace him,” even if he doesn’t achieve sweeping change.

This steadfast loyalty, analysts say, has extended Trump’s political viability. Despite concerns over high tariffs, market instability, recession, and inflation, his supporters remain resolute, expressing a willingness to endure sacrifice.

DeAnne Catlin, a 75-year-old former business etiquette instructor, summed it up: “Trump is a man sent to America for this moment in history.
